VISIT US

If you do not have a household of faith where you regularly worship and serve, we would love to have you visit one of our Sunday worship gatherings! Sundays are the primary way we gather as a church to worship together, learn from Scripture, pray for one another, and create space to hear from the Holy Spirit. Whether you are exploring faith or looking for a church home, we look forward to seeing you soon!

FAQ’s

We know visiting a church can bring on anxiety, especially if you are a new Christian or interested in learning more about the Christian faith. Below is some information about our church family that we hope helps. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • What to Expect: One distinctive of Anglican worship is its sacramental nature. Every action, gesture, and element is significant and rife with symbolism.  Just as Christ used the everyday stuff of life (bread, wine, oil, etc.) to convey his kingdom ethic, so we believe that the physical elements of life enhance our worship and can act as vehicles of his grace.

Holy Communion is celebrated in our weekly services at Church of the Apostles. Through this sacrament, we recall Jesus's words and actions at the Last Supper and look forward to his coming again in glory.

Worship In Song: Our worship band is comprised of volunteers who lead our church family in song. You'll likely hear a mix of classic hymns and more recent pieces in various styles and with a variety of instruments.

*Please note: childcare is only offered at our 10 AM service.

  • We understand that part of being comfortable often involves knowing what others might be wearing. You’ll see everything from casual clothing, like jeans and a shirt, to dresses and collared shirts. We rarely see formal attire, though we welcome them all the same.

Feel free to come as you are. We would rather you spend more time preparing your hearts for worship than preparing your attire.

  • We offer Nursery and Children’s Ministry at our 10 AM service. We are committed to providing a safe and fun atmosphere to nurture the spiritual lives of children. The children’s check-in desk is at a table outside before you walk into the church.

We have a nursery for infants to preschoolers and our Children’s Ministry, called Godly Play, for K - 4th grades. We encourage you to take a look at our Godly Play page for more information! We have a Middle School, for students in 5th-8th grades, class during our 10 AM service. High School students stay in the sanctuary during Sunday services. Learn more about our youth ministry on our Student Ministry page.

  • Church of the Apostles is a part of The Gulf Atlantic Diocese, a diocese in the Anglican Church of North America.

Next Steps: Class of New Apostles

Interested in the next steps towards membership or want to find out more about COTA? For those interested in learning more about Anglicanism, our church, or membership, taking a session of Class of New Apostles (CoNA) is the perfect place to start.

We have regularly scheduled CoNA sessions throughout the year. Each session involves three classes that are organized around our mission statement of “Gather, Form, Send.” It is not necessary to take all three classes in one month. Classes can be mixed between sessions to work with your schedule. CoNA classes meet following refreshments at 11:45am in the library of the office building.

Contact Fr. Mark to find out upcoming dates and to learn more: mark@apostleseasternshore.org.

Childcare is available upon request, but we do ask for two weeks notice. If you need to set up childcare, please contact lynnecholloway@gmail.com.
